INSPIRATION STILLE

INSPIRATION SILENCE

In the “kare-san-sui” rock gardens of Buddhist Zen monasteries, I experienced the formative sense of “timelessness”. I have no adequate words to describe the contemplative and tranquil silence that I never expected to experience in those places. Associations with MU arise, the Japanese term for non-existence that is referred to as “nothingness” or “void” in Buddhist philosophy. Aided by this perception, I pursue the artistic motif of “nothingness” which, contrary to any logic, I strive to give visual appearance to.
